Deploying Cookbooks Badge

Preparation Guide

To obtain the Deploying Cookbooks badge you must show a proficiency around deploying Chef recipes and managing nodes. You will be able to upload cookbooks to the Chef server, and manage all cookbook dependencies using Berkshelf. You should be able to bootstrap a node, and describe in detail what happens during this process, be able to discuss other methods for bringing a node under the control of Chef, e.g. using `knife plugins` (e.g. `knife ec2`), and be able to discuss and use the `firstboot.json`. You should understand how to manage and configure Roles and Environments, and the multiple levels of attribute precedence. You must also be familiar with the internal workings and configuration of chef-client, the two-phases of operation, its authentication model, and the use cases for Chef Solo. The examination for this badge includes a mixture of multiple choice questions and hands on labs.
